Lewis traces her direct descent from some of Mathews’s earliest farmers, merchants, boat captains, and oystermen, families with the surnames Hudgins, Foster, Davis, Forrest, Lewis, Williams, Marchant, Dawson, Machen, Weston, and Jones. I took my time reading this one because I didn't want it to end. Unfortunately the show part seems to have been completely omitted from this book, so you are continually beaten about the head by the motives and reasons behind every action of the protagonist rather than letting the characters own words and actions show us. And there were unknowns to consider like why Horton was not more forthcoming about his presence at the murder scene a day before it occurred and what was the mysterious secret behind Kenton’s ownership of an extremely pricy powerboat when he seemingly had no interest in boating and had never even taken a training course about how to use and navigate a powerboat on the Solvent.
